John fought hitting pulls and slices. Mostly because of the way his hands moved at the start of his downswing. He reached the top and then his hands went toward the ball and you’ll see the club shaft come down around his ear.In his golf lesson, I showed him a video of Charley Hoffman. And you’ll notice a very big difference in how Charley’s hands move at the start of his downswing and when his hands are at about the same position. Look at how different the position of his club shaft is compared to John. So we’re going to fast forward here and show you the progress John made. Okay, so here’s John’s swing after some practice. Watch the direction his hand move now. More straight-line. When we compare his shaft to Charley, we are in a much closer ballpark. So now John tries to swing between his two obstacles, these cups, and get the club face pointed at the target and now he’s hitting straight shots. So let’s take a moment to compare John’s before and after swings. Here’s a screen capture of John’s before swing on the right and after on the left. He’s laid his shaft down and shallowed it out. So he swing less to the left and this one was a nice straight shot. So lay the club shaft down more, shallow the shaft. Have it come down around your right shoulder
and you’ll hit straighter shots.
